Life Time Blood Donor and Navy Veteran Wins Marvel "70th Anniversary" Comic Car Custom Designed for Comic Con

John Peter Judd, a life-time San Diego Blood Bank donor and Navy vet was the winner of a one- of-a-kind collectible Honda Element wrapped in “70th Anniversary” Marvel Comic heroes – Captain America, Thor, Ironman, Spiderman, the Hulk and Wolverine.  The car was on-display at Comic-Con International last month where comic fans were invited to enter a drawing for the unique vehicle.  Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the San Diego Blood Bank.

As a regular donor at the Blood Bank, Judd received an entry form in the mail offering him the chance to buy tickets to enter the drawing for the Comic Car.  He’s glad he did.  When a Blood Bank representative called Judd to let him know he had won he says, “I was absolutely shocked, you just never know - you can’t win, if you don’t buy a ticket!”  In addition to donating blood regularly Judd has also given his financial support to the Blood Bank by buying chances for its annual Quacker Dash, and for the car that is given away during the annual Chargers Blood Drive.

Judd will accept the vehicle at the San Diego Blood Bank, 440 Upas Street, Friday, August 7, at 10am when the Blood Bank Foundation, the fund-raising arm of the Blood Bank, will hand over the keys.

The creation of this “70th Anniversary” Marvel Comic Honda Element collectible was made possible through generous donations by Cricket Wireless, who sponsored a texting campaign throughout the state about the car give-away; Marvel, who donated the car’s artwork; San Diego Comic-Con International; former marvel Comic Books editor Stan Lee, who autographed the car; and DF Graphics who wrapped it in super-heroes!
