More Than 5,000 San Diegans Turn Out for 30th Annual Chargers Blood Drive, Presented by San Diego County Credit Union

More than 5,000 people visited the 30th annual Chargers Blood Drive today helping the San Diego Blood Bank collect 1,664 units of blood for local hospital patients. This total is in addition to the more than three thousand donors who gave blood during the Chargers Mania Blood Drive, which took place the week preceding today’s event. In addition, the blood bank’s Stem Cell Donor Center added some 80 names to the National Marrow Donor Program registry.

The blood bank is celebrating this very successful effort by extending “Chargers Mania,” Wednesday, November 26, through Saturday, December 6, at all donor centers (listed below) and bloodmobiles.  Each donor will be awarded a special limited edition Chargers Blood Drive 30 long-sleeve, “Chargers Blue” T-shirt while supplies last (sizes subject to availability).

The Chargers Blood Drive was made possible by presenting sponsor San Diego County Credit Union, as well as major sponsors Grossmont Healthcare District, Cox Channel 4, the Honda Dealers of San Diego County, Darrell and Kathy Issa and the Issa Family Foundation, Mercer Health & Benefits, the U.S. Air Force and Plan B Party Styling.  For more information on Chargers Blood Drive 30, visit SanDiegoBloodBank.org or call 1-800-4MY-SDBB.
