Help Make a Difference in Life at the NBC 7/39 Blood and Bone Marrow Drive Friday, August 7, at the NBC Studios DowntownPosted: August 05, 2009![]() NBC 7/39 and the San Diego Blood Bank are teaming up to make a difference in life this summer at the NBC 7/39 Blood and Bone Marrow Drive, Friday, August 7, in the plaza behind the NBC 7/39 Studios at 225 Broadway from noon to 6pm. The first 150 blood donors will be awarded special memorabilia from Disney’s The Lion King coming to the Civic Theatre downtown this October. Donors will also enjoy delicious pizza, salad and breadsticks, compliments of Pat & Oscar’s. Free bone marrow testing will also be offered at this blood drive for those who wish to join the Be the Match registry of the National Marrow Donor Program with a simple cheek swab. To qualify to join the registry you must be between the ages of 18 and 60, be willing to donate to any patient in need, and meet the health guidelines. In addition, the Blood Bank will recognize County Supervisor Greg Cox and the Nice Guys Club for their generous donation to the Blood Bank’s new Mobile In-Room Vehicle – MIRV – which transports blood drive equipment to locations around the county. A MIRV ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 12:30pm on the plaza next to the blood drive. Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good health, may be eligible to donate blood.
