Commemorative Entry Plaza

Your heart will be touched when you take a stroll around the Commemorative Entry Plaza located at the San Diego Blood Bank’s new headquarters and main donor center.  Surrounded by tropical landscaping, beautiful in any season, are personalized tiles and bricks, with many more available, engraved in memory of loved ones and in honor of those living. The tiles and bricks are deeply etched with a protected inscription and make a perfect gift.

A donor making a gift of between $200 and $5,000 will have a choice among various sizes of personalized bricks and wall tiles to be placed in the Entry Plaza. Donations between $100 and $199 will scroll your name for one year on an electronic Distinguished Donor Digital Wall prominently displayed inside the main donor center.

1. How will my gift help?
Charitable support helps the blood bank purchase bloodmobiles, equip labs, support the development of the new cell therapy program and much more.  All of this makes it possible to provide the blood products transfused into patients in San Diego and Imperial counties more than 150,000 times each year, making the difference between health and illness, life and death for babies, children, and adults.

2. Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. 100%of the cost of the tile and brick is tax-deductible.

3. Will I get a receipt for my donation?
Yes. If you order your tile or brick online, you will receive an online receipt once your order is complete.  If you mail or call in your order, you will receive a receipt by mail.

4. Can I purchase multiple tiles and bricks?
Yes!  Tiles and bricks make wonderful gifts for friends and family.

5. Is there a discount if I purchase more than one tile or brick?
Unfortunately, no.

6. Where will my tile or brick be displayed?
Tiles will be displayed on the wall around the Commemorative Entry Plaza. Bricks will be embedded in the floor of the Entry Plaza.

7. May I pick the location of my tile or brick?
The entry plaza will include more than 3,000 tiles and bricks. The complexity of placing so many items will prevent  us from accommodating individual preferences as to location. That said, the plaza has been carefully designed so that every tile and brick will be fully visible to visitors.

8. What can I say on my tile or brick?
Your name or the name of the person or family to whom you’re dedicating the tile or brick – maximum number of characters based on the tile or brick size. See tile and brick pricing chart.

9.When will my tile or brick be installed?
Tiles and bricks will be installed in phases depending upon the date of your order.  An approximate installation date will be given when you place your order.
