2006 Naked Juice Walk/Run ResultsMore than 1,000 people participated in the San Diego Blood Bank's Naked Juice 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, May 13th in Balboa Park. Over $100,000 was raised for the programs and services of the San Diego Blood Bank. Team Angelina won the prize for largest team, earning them a catered BBQ Party. This year's Naked Juice Walk/Run was dedicated to the memory of two-year old Angelina Gomez who passed away in June of 2004. Angelina inspired thousands of San Diegans to donate blood during her courageous battle with DiGeorge Syndrome, a disease that causes severe heart defects. To help raise awareness, the Gomez family continues to spearhead Team Angelina on behalf of the hundreds of other patients at Children's Hospital who still rely on volunteer blood donors. George Chavez was our biggest fundraiser, winning himself a year of fine dining at some of San Diego's best restaurants. |
