Blood Donors Double Their Impact By Keeping Supply Stable, Supporting Other Local Non-Profits During Pandemic

SAN DIEGO (July 1, 2020) In an effort to thank those who helped keep the blood supply stable during the pandemic through blood donation, San Diego Blood Bank recently offered those donors “I Saved Lives in 2020” branded items or the chance to support other non-profit organizations by donating a portion of the value of the branded item back to either Veteran’s Village of San Diego or the San Diego Humane Society.

Over 2,000 donors opted for the latter, resulting in over $7,500 in donations back to those organizations. Veteran’s Village of San Diego received over $3,600 and San Diego Humane Society received over $3,900.

“San Diego Blood Bank’s donors are proud to have partnered with Veteran’s Village of San Diego and the San Diego Humane Society” said Claudine Van Gonka, San Diego Blood Bank Director of Community Relations and Marketing. “We hope these donations will help support homeless military veterans living in our community as well as the welfare of shelter animals in San Diego.”

Checks were presented to both organizations this week as seen in the images below.
