Join us for the 44th Robert A. Heinlein (Virtual) Blood Drive July 22-August 16, 2020, and be a hero for a neighbor in need. This year, with Comic-Con going virtual, our annual blood drive is following (in our super suit).
For the last 43 years, SDBB has become a mainstay at Comic-Con where eager fans in costumes meet their (super)heroes (and become superheroes when they donate blood). This year, we must adapt to the times of a global pandemic and we are ready for it.
While ComicCon@Home will keep you entertained, we invite you to come on out and save some lives.
Visit any San Diego Blood Bank center or mobile drive during this timeframe and receive a limited-edition Marvel Black Widow T-shirt* (while supplies last).
Over the past 43 years, Comic-Con donors have given over 25,000 units of blood. We estimate that Comic-Con attendees have impacted more than 75,000 lives.
* While supplies last. S-5XL sizes subject to availability.
Safety measures are in place. Centers and mobile blood drives are tightly controlled environments with a limited number of people gathering at one time. For questions about safety protocols and cleaning measures, please review our FAQs.
All donors and staff are required to wear face coverings.
See COVID-19 related deferrals, including exposure and travel deferrals.
Through July 31, all blood donations are being tested for the SARS-CoV-2 antibody. This test is not a COVID-19 diagnostic for people with symptoms or recent exposure. You must be symptom free for 28 days to donate blood. Learn more.
