Deferred Donors

How can you help if you are deferred from donating blood?

Blood donors are understandably disappointed when they are told they are deferred. Donors who were deferred for reasons (e.g., travel, Hepatitis C) are able to help us during their temporary or permanent deferrals.

It is commonly said that a unit of blood can save up to three lives. However, an extra tube of blood provided for research can potentially save millions of lives if a new marker or mechanism of cancer is discovered, or a new drug is validated. Donating for research can have tremendous impact in our community’s health.

Please consider donating for this purpose and ask others who you know to help as well. If interested contact San Diego Blood Bank for more information at 800-469-7322, Ext. 8251.
