Did you know that the average woman needs 18 mg iron a day? On the other hand, the average man needs 10 mg. Infants and children need 10-15 mg.
If you are not getting enough iron, you may want to change your eating habits. If you are unable to include more iron-rich food in your diet, check with your physician about a possible iron supplement. You can enhance absorption of iron by eating foods rich in Vitamin C at every meal (e.g. citrus fruits, strawberries, red peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, potatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, cauliflower, and kiwis).
