Regular donors at San Diego Blood Bank may already know Rita Mansour. A San Diego State alumna, she’s worked at San Diego Blood Bank for fifteen years and is passionate about all the work we do…from cancer research to blood collection. A lifelong San Diegan (yep, a native!), Rita enjoys traveling and going to concerts with her younger sister.
Given her many years of service to San Diego, and her passion for her work, we decided to sit down with Rita and have a chat.
Can you tell us what your job title is and what you do here at SDBB?
My position at San Diego Blood Bank is Development and Research Recruiter. I recruit for all research studies at San Diego Blood Bank. I’m currently working on the All Of Us Research Program and a cancer study. I’ve worked on various other research studies.
Do you have a particular passion for the work we do here at SDBB? What makes you excited about the work you’re doing?
I love working for San Diego Blood Bank. It’s a job where we make a difference in lives each and every day. It’s a good feeling. I love helping people, and working on all the different research studies is very rewarding. It’s exciting to see how we are growing and doing so much for our community.
You live in San Diego, one of the most amazing cities in the world. Can you tell us something you love about the city?
I love the weather, going to the beach, Seaport Village, Old Town, and I love being outdoors. I feel very blessed to live in such a beautiful and amazing city.
Okay, last one—and this is for fun. Who has been the biggest influence in your life? What lessons did that person teach you?
My parents have been the biggest influence in my life. They have always been there for me and taught me to work hard and follow my dreams. They taught me to never give up.
