Meet RN Suzanne Worsley

We're celebrating #NursesWeek by introducing you to a few of our superstar RNs.

Meet Suzanne, Assistant Manager at our Coastal and North County Donor Centers.

How long have you been a nurse at San Diego Blood Bank?
I have been a nurse here at SDBB since March 2017.

Who or what inspired you to become a nurse?
It may sound strange but when the movie Pearl Harbor came out, it inspired me to become a Nurse. So I joined the Navy as a Corpsman out of High School, and working with the Nurses while in the Navy gave me the extra motivation and encouragement to go out and become a Nurse.

What is your most memorable moment as a nurse?
My most memorable moment was when I worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). I took care of very sick premature babies. And watching them go from the worst of the worst, to going home with their parents and being healthy, happy babies was amazing. And those babies I took care of wouldn’t be alive today without amazing blood donors.

Why do you love working for SDBB?
I love working here because it’s like a big family with Donors and Staff. I love connecting with our donors and hearing their stories.

What is something people probably don’t know about you?
Something people probably don’t know about me is I am an only child, and I am such a huge baseball fan that I follow standings and statistics.
