For every blood donation made at a San Diego Blood Bank donation location or mobile blood drive through April 5, San Diego Blood Bank will make a financial contribution to UNICEF on behalf of the donor to support Ukrainian civilians who desperately need help. We invite the San Diego community to donate blood to help save the lives of local patients who rely on blood transfusions to survive traumas, maintain health and treat cancers and disease.
Eligible donors who would like to donate blood in support of this effort can register with the donation code UKRN at check-in. Your blood donation will help local hospital patients in the Southern California region. Through April 5 and for every blood donation collected, SDBB will make a financial contribution benefitting UNICEF's effort to support Ukrainian civilians.
To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 114 pounds, and be in general good health. Eligible blood donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online or call (619) 400-8251.
We are unable to actually provide blood products due to logistical concerns, but Blood Centers of America (BCA) has been in contact with their European Associates to discuss immediate and long-term help, and right now the biggest need is for financial support.
UNICEF is working with partners to reach vulnerable children and families with essential services—including health, education, protection, water, and sanitation—as well as lifesaving supplies.
Thank you for saving lives with us.
