The County of San Diego and San Diego Blood Bank partner up to host blood drives at more than 20 locations throughout San Diego this April.
Each year, the San Diego County Blood Drive offers a variety of convenient locations throughout San Diego County to give blood, helping the community in an incredible way. This month-long blood drive event marks 40 years of saving lives together—impacting THOUSANDS of lives.
Blood donations collected will benefit local hospital patients, who rely on volunteer blood donations to overcome illness, injuries from car accidents, surgeries, childbirth, and those with chronic blood disorders. Every day, San Diego Blood Bank must collect more than 350 units of blood to meet the needs of hospital partners, ensuring blood is on the shelves when it’s needed most.
All blood types are needed. Every donation matters. Will you be a hero for a neighbor in need?
Join friends, family, and colleagues in saving lives this April. Each year, this event collects 400-500 lifesaving blood donations. Help the County and the community by donating blood in April to help reach the goal of more than 500 pints of blood donated. Together, we can save lives and improve the health of San Diegans.
40th Annual County Blood Drive Kick-off Event
The annual blood drive kick-off event commenced in front of the County of San Diego Administration building on Tuesday, April 2. Chairwoman Nora Vargas presented a proclamation in recognition of the County of San Diego and SDBB saving lives together for 40 impactful years (pictured above).

Blood Donation Information
County employees and all community members are invited to donate blood at any County blood drive location!
To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health.
Walk-ins are welcome and appointments are encouraged. Thank you for joining us in saving lives.
